The Professional Development Committee is developing the Education calendar for the remainder of 2013. On tap and confirmed to date are the following seminars:
JULY 24 AND 25
On Wednesday July 24 and Thursday July 25 the Continuing Education Academy will provide 14 credit hours of CEU opportunities for contractors, remodelers and anyone who needs CEU’s to fulfill their contractor licensing requirements. The Academy will submit your CEU hours to the licensing board directly and save you the paperwork! Cost for 2 days is $199 for members, and $299 for non-members for registration by June1. Fees increase to $224 for members and $324 for non-members from June 2 to July 17, 2013. Classes will be held at the CDBIA office. Box lunches will be available for purchase. CEU classes include:
Day 1- July 24
-Advanced 2013 FBC Code changes (1 hour)
-Journey through your business life cycle.(4 hours)
-Understanding Workers Compensation(1 hour)
-Worksite safety (1 hour)
Day 2- Jul 25
-Florida Laws and rules (1 hour)
-Improved management techniques (2 hours)
-Business Benchmark (1 hour)
-Wind Mitigation Methodologies ( 1 hour)
-Asset protection (1 hour)
-Lien law ( 1 hour)
OR NEC Update (correspondence course for electricians only)

Seminar Topics that the committee is investigating, but not yet scheduled include:
- How to market yourself and your company at a Trade Show or Expo. Discussion on booth space, booth displays, promotional items, and marketing tips.
-“Construction Lien Law”. Seminar to provide an overview and practical application of Florida statutes.
-“Commercial Liability for Contractors”. Seminar will examine the three coverage areas of commercial general liability (CGL)
-Social Media classes. Seminars to provide insight into Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and other social media and their relationship to your business.
