Data Points
(Scrub Jay Sightings) and Lot Information
Log in below with your NAHB Member ID to utilize a special
C-D BIA Members-Only overlay for Charlotte County Scrub Jay information
which is based upon the officially recognized sightings of Florida Scrub Jays
for lots in Charlotte County as of January 2007.
These overlays are unofficial and should only be used for
informational purposes.
New sightings are being added by Charlotte County and
forwarded to the US Fish & Wildlife Service in Vero Beach.
In order to determine the current status of any individual parcel of land, go
to the Charlotte County website http://charlottefl.com/ScrubJaySearch/ and enter the individual lot Parcel Identification Number (PID) or street
address to determine whether a Bird Survey is required. If none is required,
Charlotte County and USF&W have agreed to a Review Procedure. Click here
for a copy of the Review Procedure and the Agreement Letter with Charlotte County.
However, if Charlotte County staff observes a Florida Scrub Jay during the
course of its regular permitting process, they will report the sighting to
USF&W.
Mitigation with probably be required in order to proceed.
Once a “No Bird” Survey is approved by the Charlotte County staff, a one-year
“Safe Harbor” is established.
During that period no Stop Work Orders or USF&W mitigation should be
issued for the lot.
