Michael Schreiber

As the Vice Chair of the Charlotte-DeSoto Building Industry Association’s Next Gen Council, I am committed to supporting the Council’s initiatives, assisting the Chair, and advancing the development of future leaders within the construction industry. I am particularly focused on expanding opportunities for the next generation and helping bridge the gap between seasoned professionals and emerging talent. By fostering connection, communication, and mentorship, I aim to support a stronger, more unified industry for years to come.
In addition to my work with the Council, I serve as a Commercial Construction Project Manager with Wharton-Smith, where I have been employed since November 2021. After many years working in engineering and technology, my path into construction was reignited by a simple but impactful question from my young son—“Daddy, Why aren’t you building things?” His words reminded me of the passion that first led me toward this field and ultimately encouraged me to pursue the career I had long envisioned for more than 20 years.
Over the past four years, I have contributed to the delivery of key public and municipal projects across Southwest Florida, including fire stations, water treatment administrative buildings, school facilities, and other essential infrastructure. I take pride in supporting projects that bring long-term value to the communities we serve.
I bring a diverse academic and technical background to the field, holding six degrees ranging from Civil Engineering to Computer Programming. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management at Florida Gulf Coast University, supported by the CDBIA Gene Extejt Scholarship. This broad foundation allows me to approach construction challenges with a balanced, solutions-driven perspective, integrating both technical knowledge and practical field experience.
Beyond my professional responsibilities, I am honored to serve as a Board Member of YoungLife, where I support youth engagement, leadership development, and community outreach. This role aligns with my passion for mentorship and my commitment to investing in future generations both inside and outside the construction industry.
With a focus on professionalism, collaboration, and continuous growth, I strive to support the mission of the Next Gen Council and contribute meaningfully to the advancement and longevity of our industry.
